In addition to insight gained from surveys, these ideas will help you find out how clients really feel about you.
- If your client does not respond promptly to your phone calls or e-mails, you should question the value of your relationship.
- Ask your client how other people in the organization feel about your firm.
- Do you send your client articles that might be helpful, and do you make periodic unsolicited recommendations? You should. Do you get a wholehearted response?
- Do you send e-mail newsletters or other communications regularly? You can find out whether they are opened promptly and forwarded to others in the company. Do you receive responses from these communications, positive or negative?
- Have you asked your client for testimonials? You should do so shortly after completing an engagement. If your work is valued, there will be enthusiasm about telling others.
- Tell a client you are interested in expanding your presence in a particular niche. A client who is willing to open doors for you is one who values your relationship.
- There may be a correlation between a client’s opinion of you and the age of your invoices.
