When a Leader Thinks He is Better Than The People He Leads

When a leader feels superior the following can happen:

  • Decisions are made unilaterally—no approval from partners.
  • The leader is impolite.
  • Excess spending occurs.
  • Bonuses may be excessive.
  • Meetings are dominated by the leader.
  • Decisions are made on impulse without deliberation.
  • Team accomplishments are overlooked and credit is taken by the leader.

Behavior like this can create distrust among the partners and staff.

Effective leaders should be humble, know their strengths and weaknesses, and invite feedback.
