If You Really Want to Satisfy Your Clients

CPA Trendlines interviewed CPAs to find out what they do to satisfy clients. Here are some of the responses:

  • Clients want to hear from you often, maybe even monthly, so you can help them identify and deal with problems before year-end.
  • Introducing new products or services isn’t self-serving. Clients will appreciate it. It shows you care about them.
  • CPA firms should emulate banks by having partners serve as relationship managers.
  • Tell clients what you are doing to earn your fees. Don’t cut fees, but provide commensurate value.
  • Customize your services. Don’t provide “one-size-fits-all” services.
  • Listen to complaints from anyone in the client organization—and do something about them. Try to hear what is implied but not said.
  • Try to anticipate what will happen in the client’s future.
