Checklists for Adopting a Part-Time Partnership Program
Source: Accounting Today
The typical part-time partner:
- Works 1500 to 1800 hours.
- Developed a new niche for the firm.
- Is motivated to succeed.
- Is loyal to the firm.
- Won’t go back to full-time.
If your firm wants to employ part-time partners:
- Develop a written agreement setting forth the expectations of both the firm and the part-time partners.
- Make sure your remote accessibility technology is the best.
- Be flexible—no one arrangement will serve all part-time partners.
- Create a compensation committee that isn’t obsessed with billable hours.
It’s not a one-way street. Part-time partners should:
- Understand that the arrangement must be mutually beneficial.
- Find or develop a niche.
- Focus on success.
- Be ready to communicate with the office at all times.
