Innovative Recruiting and Retention Ideas
Source: Practical Accountant
Practical Accountant reports from the AICPA Tech+ conference on new ideas for recruiting and retention:
- Review social networking sites like MySpace.com. Prospective candidates are looking at these sites. Check salary.com to determine if your pay rates are competitive.
- Prepare up-to-date job descriptions.
- Create a bank of resumes.
- Send e-mail questionnaires.
- To find out whether candidates have good communication skills, interview them by phone before inviting them to the office.
- Performance-based bonuses avoid invidious comparisons. Arbitrary bonuses can also be destructive since recipients don’t know whether there will ever be more bonuses.
- Create a learning culture in your firm, i.e., one that supports sharing of knowledge and offers learning opportunities.
