Boutiquing

Boutiquing

Gale Crosley, consultant to CPA firms, writing in Accounting Today, describes boutiquing as a step up from niching. Boutiquing refers to a single service within a niche.  A boutique service is best when accompanied by:

  • A champion who is a leader in the organization.
  • Revenue goals.
  • Incentives based on results.
  • Well defined position in the market.
  • Uniqueness.
  • A strategy for goal achievement that includes specific lead development activities.
  • A measurement system.
  • Possibly a separate corporate unit.

Some practitioners are using non-CPAs as boutique leaders.

Boutiquing can help the firm increase its visibility and exposure in the community.
