Getting the Whole Firm on the Same Strategic Page
Source: Accounting Today
It’s getting to be an age-old problem—getting execution of your plans. Here are some practical suggestions:
- Limit the number of strategic initiatives to five.
- Make sure partners and staff know what they are.
- Develop a system that reports on the degree to which you achieve the initiatives.
- Understand how to communicate. What matters is not what you tell people, but what they comprehend and remember.
- When you experience success, tell everyone. Do the same with failures.
- Use a bottom-up approach to creating your strategies. If people are involved in their creation, they will be committed to them.
- Relate compensation to achievement of your strategic initiatives.
