PR’s report on AICPA happenings includes the following highlights:
- The Web site www.startheregoplaces.com is designed to elicit interest in the profession by students.
- Because of the dearth of instructors, AICPA is recruiting teachers and is seeking funds for its Future Doctoral Student Program.
- At www.IFRS.com, AICPA is helping members with international financial reporting standards.
- Twenty-three states now permit practice by CPAs from other states. AICPA is collaborating with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy, state boards, and state societies to get laws past in all states.
- AICPA Council approved a new credential, CFF—certified in financial forensics. This designation is in addition to the AICPA’s other credential programs—personal financial specialist, accredited in business valuation, and certified information technology professional.
- AICPA has joined an alliance to provide CPAs with better access to Small Business Administration programs, and a national network for helping small business clients.
- Coming soon:
- An exposure draft on compilation and review for small business clients.
