In Business Development There are Few Failures
Source: Services Insider Blog, by Mike Schultz
When you play golf one hole at a time you tend to beat yourself up over bad shots. It’s the same with business development.
In business development it can be even worse. You are going to have more misses than hits. And you can’t view your misses as personal failures. CPAs tend to get discouraged when they make one or two phone calls and get rejected. Instead they should make 20 calls and send 20 e-mails, contact 20 associations, join boards of organizations, invite several contacts to lunch. The more activities you are involved in, the more successes you will have. Celebrate them. Disregard the misses. They aren’t failures, they are just part of the game.
