Dramatic Increase in Forensic and Litigation Services in Philadelphia Firm
Source: Practical Accountant
Parente Randolph’s forensic and litigation group has members with a dazzling array of credentials including Ph.D., MBA, CFE, ABV, CFF, ASA, JD, CIRA, and CVA. Its services cover disputes over patent infringements, professional liability, construction projects, and fraud. Its business in this area is mushrooming.
Engagements have included:
- An entrepreneur with an idea for a new business discussed it with several law firms. A client of one of the law firms started a similar business. The entrepreneur sued that firm for close to $50 million. Parente analyzed the amount of the damage claim and found significant errors. During the court proceedings the amount of the claim was found to be inordinate.
- A company about to file its 10-K with the SEC received an anonymous tip that someone in the firm was embezzling receivables. Executives did not want to file until the allegation was investigated. Extensive investigation and analysis by Parente revealed the alleged embezzlement to be non-existent.
Some people believe marketing is unnecessary—do good work and you will get more than you want. But Parente believes marketing is important and accordingly promotes its forensic services through articles, speeches, and board positions, and by sponsoring Bar Association events. It also sends regular e-mails to its contacts and conducts personal meetings with them.
