New Write-Up Software Choices

With the introduction of write-up software by Intuit, Drake, CCH, and Taxwise, there are more choices for practitioners in this area.

There is a trend towards more integration and one-stop shopping. Other significant trends include:

· Practitioners providing more analysis such as tax planning and exit strategies.

· More integration means less data entry.

· More integration with other systems.

· Bank reconciliations.

· Correcting journal entries exported to clients.

· Working with multiple functions simultaneously. Eliminates much of the necessity of closing one screen to work on another.

· Archiving of supporting documents.

· Clients entering routine transactions and exporting the others to the CPA.

· Depreciation programs.

· Outsourcing of write-up services.
