Training Your Firm’s Future Leaders

Training Your Firm’s Future Leaders

Training leaders is more important than ever. Some reasons:

·          Retirement of Baby Boomers will increase the need for succession planning,

·          Young people expect leadership responsibilities sooner.

·          Leadership training can help keep people with the firm.

Some of the problems leaders face are:

·          Dealing with fee complaints.

·          Making client meetings more consequential.

·          Improving the value of feedback to others.

·          Keeping staff with the firm.

·          Developing more business with existing clients.

The best training is given by the partners of the firm rather than outsiders. It is more practical. Senior partners have a wealth of real-life experience and a lot of wisdom to impart. There is a misguided tendency to impart this wisdom in long sessions once or twice a year. But people don’t learn in long sessions as well as in shorter recurrent sessions throughout the year.
