Business Valuation, Litigation Support are Top Specialty Niches

Among Accounting Today's Top 100 firms, business valuation and litigation support ranked one and two, respectively, on the list of top specialty niches. Attest services dropped from first to third place in this year's study. Reasons for increased business valuation activity include:

• Heighted regulatory scrutiny, particularly related to fair value accounting standards and executive compensation vehicles, such as stock options and deferred tax arrangements,
• Renewed M&A activity, venture funding, bank lending, and IPOs, and
• Companies emerging from bankruptcies.
