Are You an Invisible Partner?

While partners should market their firms, they also should market themselves. Here are some ways to become more visible:

  • Before attending a networking event, contact the speakers to arrange for meeting them at the event. This is especially valuable at industry events—influential industry people can help you get referrals.
  • Contact journalists and other media people who deal with your areas of expertise. You can find them in media directories at the library. Offer to be the source of articles and interviews.
  • Create a “press room” on your Web site where media people can find information on you and your areas of expertise.
  • Write for trade publications. Send reprints to prospects and clients.
