Why CPAs Lose Clients
Source: CPA Insider
CPAs should ask themselves why the reasons they may lose clients.
CPAs say the reasons are generally related to fees. But about one-third of CPAs say it is bad service or lack of attention.
Does that mean two-thirds of clients don’t want good service and lots of attention?
On a list of reasons CPAs give for losing clients, service is the third most frequently mentioned cause. Others are:
- Death.
- Sale of business.
- Termination of business.
- Poor rapport with client.
- Reactive, rather than proactive, service.
- Development of friendship with another CPA. Alternatively, failure to develop personal relationship between CPA and client.
- Needed services not provided.
- Clients fired.
- Failure to demonstrate value.
- Failure to live up to expectations.
