CPAs Need to Write
Source: Solutions for CPA Firm Leaders
In this blog entry, Rita Keller encourages CPAs to take advantage of opportunities to communicate through writing, which can help develop their reputation as a quality CPA, reach new clients, and expand existing client relationships. Keller stresses the importance of not missing out on the massive amount of writing/dialogue that takes place online. Below are highlights from a “how to” writing video by Jeffrey Gitomer, which is included in the blog entry.
Writing Tips
- Write like you speak – It makes your writing easier to read and understand
- Edit the next day, and read out loud as you edit
How to Write on Twitter
- Offer short messages that are valuable to your customers
- Make you messages “retweetable”
Starting Out on Twitter
- Invite your friends and give them samples of what you intend to tweet
- Tweet something of value every day
- Tweet 120 characters so others can easily retweet your full message
- Don't quote others and don't abuse the process by trying to sell things too early
How to Write on Facebook
- Have one page for yourself and another for your business
- Post with pictures or videos that lead to additional content
- Write about events with significance, and about your observations
- Respond to those who post on your page
- Take advantage of one-on-one communication opportunities
- Communicate your knowledge of new trends, and be willing to engage in a positive, helpful way with those who offer negative feedback
