Five Tips for Firm Management
Source: Optimum Strategies, LLC
In this blog entry, Ira Rosenbloom offers five tips to help CPA leaders guide their firms throughout the year, including during the busy season. They are summarized here:
- Closely monitor workflow. Check status and turnaround at least once a week and more often during busy season. Remember that workflow software is a helpful tool, but that actual management of workflow is still required.
- Spend a part of each day connecting with clients and potential clients. During the busy season potential clients may be dissatisfied with the level of service they are receiving elsewhere, which creates an opportunity for you.
- Set a standard for your referral sources and resources. Communicate with your clients and staff about your firm's connections and resources and how they can be utilized.
- When you successfully solve a client's problem, tell others about it. Be sure to protect your client's identity when you share your story.
- Send letters, not emails, to clients as a means of follow-up, communicating results or explaining the benefits of certain planning.
