Is Your Website Bringing You Business?

Source: Rain Today

In this article, Jon Baer explains how to meet the needs of your website visitors, with the goal of helping them become full-fledged clients. Baer divides website visitors into five categories:

  1. Visitors who are just looking for information or ideas about available products, services, etc. Provide this group with an option for an e-newsletter or similar informational resource. Require only an email address to sign up so these visitors are more likely to make this initial connection.
  2. Visitors who have a fairly good idea of their business needs and want to know if you have the answer. As with group one, this group would benefit from a simple e-newsletter option, but they might also be ready for more details, such as a case study that reveals how your business has been helpful to others in their position.
  3. Visitors who are further into the research process than group two. They know their business needs and may be at the point of comparing your services to those of a few competitors. Offer this group case studies too. You might offer a portion or an overview of the study and require more information from them in order for them to access the complete study.
  4. Visitors who know what they want and are carefully considering your product or services but are not yet ready for personal interaction. Offer them an online demonstration that provides further insight about what you can provide and how your product/services work.
  5. Visitors who are ready for personal interaction. Provide them with a brief form to ask a question or submit a request for contact. Keep the form simple and short so you don't lose the opportunity to truly interact with them about your business.
