Meeting Today's Challenges Demands New Leadership Approaches

Participants at the recent AAA National Practice Management Conference identified their top seven leadership challenges:

1. Succession planning
2. Accountability and buy-in
3. Communication (lack thereof)
4. Managing millennials
5. Work/life balance
6. Leadership development
7. Managing change

In this blog post, Tom Hood, executive director of the Maryland Association of CPAs, says that addressing these challenges will require new forms of leadership. Leadership is already shifting from “command and control” to “connect and collaborate,” Hood explains, and this requires leaders to adopt new approaches and develop new skills.
