What You Should Expect From Your CEO/MP
Source: Accounting Today
Gary Boomer outlines the five major responsibilities of a CPA firm's CEO/managing partner:
- Strategic planning. Although the planning process should involve input from all major areas of the firm, the CEO or MP often sets the firm's strategic direction.
- Allocating resources. It's up to the CEO or MP to address priorities and staffing, and to ensure the right people are leading the firm's initiatives.
- Being a transformation agent. Transformation goes beyond “change” and involves doing something radically different. It demands innovation, diversity, and a multi-disciplinary approach. It also requires accountability.
- Resolving conflicts and logjams. CPAs typically avoid conflict, but a successful CEO/MP tackles conflict head on.
- Driving revenue. The CEO/MP is responsible for defining what is possible and inspiring people to stretch further than they thought they could go.
