Lately, there has been a lot of buzz about Pinterest, the online, social media platform where you post images and things of interest you find that others can view and “pin” if they like.
Though Pinterest lists home decorating, wedding planning, and recipes among the reasons to join, there's a good reason a company or CPA firm may want to get involved with this platform: Exposure. Here's a list of ways you should consider using it.
- Promotion. Promote your blog, services, or products on this platform. To do so, you need to have some type of image to share. Share insider tips or top trends.
- Recruiting. I searched Pinterest using the term “CPA.” There were several dozen posts from female students sitting for the CPA exam noting how they planned to reward themselves when they passed. Firms looking to increase their associate pool may want to consider looking here.
- Content. According to recent research, 80 percent of “pins” are re-pins of other content. If you have something to share with a female audience, this medium could be right for you. Share articles and tips about elder care and the tax implications, trust funds for your pets, saving for your or your child's future, or investing.
- Lead generation: In the United States, this medium is female-dominated. However, in the United Kingdom, the largest growing demographics are males in the finance, marketing, and business areas, as well as people who earn six-figure incomes.
- Vendor and client referral: Learn more about a vendor or client with whom you're planning to work.
