Advantages of Client Portals

Roman Kepczyk says that according to the 2008 Association for Accounting Administration (AAA) Client Transfer Survey (www.CPAAdmin.org), most firms receive information from clients on CDs, Zip disks, and USB drives. They generally eschew e-mail because the files are too large and it is difficult to purge the information after downloading it from e-mail.

Client portals can solve both problems. They can accommodate large files and can be accessed via a Web site. If properly implemented, clients see only their own files. There is no purging problem.
